SHALOM
Shalom is an exploration of peace made tangible.
The series began with a question:
What does deep peace look like when it lives inside something powerful?
I am drawn to the fiercest creatures, the animals that carry strength, wildness, instinct, and majesty. I wanted to imagine what it looks like for that power to exist from a place of profound peace.
In these paintings, peace is not the absence of power. It is the presence of something deeper: a wholeness that allows strength to become gentle, fierceness to become tender, and movement to come without urgency.
Through soft color palettes, layered brushwork, and atmospheric movement, the paintings create a sense of quiet. The animals are not performing for us. They are simply being. Resting, roaming, growing, inhabiting their strength without needing to prove it.
This is my visual exploration of shalom, a deep, spiritual peace that reaches beyond simply feeling calm. It is a sense of wholeness, harmony, and belonging. A peace that allows us to stop striving and become present to who we truly are.
In Shalom, the wild does not need to be tamed in order to be peaceful.
The bear can rest.
The bison can roam.
The cougar can be tender.
The stag can grow.
The powerful can make peace.
And perhaps that is where we find something true about ourselves.
Peace does not ask us to become less.
It gives us the freedom to become fully who we are.
We can rest without becoming passive. Move forward without being driven by urgency. Become tender without losing our strength. Grow without believing we are not already enough. And carry peace into the spaces around us rather than waiting for the world to become peaceful first.
Each painting is an invitation to encounter this kind of peace, not as a retreat from our strength, but as the place from which our strength can become whole.
Shalom is not the absence of wildness.
It is wildness at peace.
